Commentary: I stand with what the author states in this article because considering what the author says on that It will help you develop skills and become a better writer will always help. Also Mike says that it can help you come up with your own to use in your own writing. I like that Mike brought in other peoples ideas in his post to help bring light on what others think and help us better understand what reading like a writer really means. I also like that he started off with a story, so when he started explaining what reading like a writer is we can go back and she what specific parts he added and how he could have changed a few words and have us imagine what he could have change them too. In the essay he adds the little excise at the end for use to try it out for ourselves. I hardly see that in essays and I really think that is a good idea to help them understand and give it a try, so can try it for future use. He also added questions in the essay that you can ask yourself as you use this new technique, so you can get a further understanding on how to use this technique.
Summary: The summary of the article is to convince you to give this technique a try. Mike lists a lot of reason why this technique is helpful. He adds helpful question that you can answer to help you father understand what this technique is all about and he also adds an example story at the beginning of the essay, so when you read the essay and read about the tip and tricks you can go back to that text and try it out for yourself. Overall Mikes goal is to persuade you to adapt this technique, so you can learn the connect between reading and writing.
Making connections: After reading this article I didn’t have any connections with it. I haven’t done this technique or at least known about it. I think now knowing about this technique ill use it more in the future. Mike did a great job explaining why it was a good technique with the questions, stories with other accounts and the example story at the beginning and the end of the essay to look back on and to try it on.
