Summary: The article “Annoying Ways People Use Sources” by Kyle Stedman talked mostly about his opinion on how people source their info. One of the ways he presented to us was how people used quotations without showing us where it came from. Without the author of that pieces showing us where it came from we wouldn’t have any clue for the reader to confirm the sources. He explained that it would be difficult for the reader to believe the information that is presented and that it would be hard for both the reader and writer to connect. At the end the author tells us that we could help the reader and writer connect is by adding a statement with a citation with sources that are specific that so the reader knows where that information came from and can tell if the information is legit. He also displays some ideas on how to quote correctly and how to cite too. He is trying to help us avoid mistakes and how to fix any future upcoming ones.
Commentary: When I see a piece of work that isn’t cited correctly or quoted correctly either it gets confusing on where the author got that information and even sometimes how it ties into the piece. Sometimes its frustrating and somethings it’s just confusing. I’ve come into come troubles when reading a unprepared students essay or even reading something online. It makes me wonder where they are going and wondering is it legit or fake. I can also see where the author is coming from when he gets annoyed on him reading something that isn’t quotes correctly or cited correctly either. When he said that he tries to figure out why the author may have done that it related to me. I always find my self giving people the benefit of the doubt when they are wrong, always trying to find out why they did that thing. I think that’s a trait that everyone should adapt when it comes to mistakes. Some people just assume the worst then it comes to people making mistakes when it was completely unintentional on their part.
